Welcome

The Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation was set up in January 2011, in memory of Grace Crocker, who grew her angel wings aged 11 weeks. Grace was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (A congenital heart disorder in which the left side of the heart, particularly the left ventricle, is underdeveloped. The first part of the aorta may also be abnormal. Affected babies usually develop severe heart failure within the first few days of life), and had open-heart surgery when she was just 5 days old. Her family lived in Jersey, and so they had to move to Southampton for three months whilst Grace recovered from her surgery, including her brother and sister as well as her mum and dad. She met lots of friends and family when she was allowed back home to Jersey, and in the month that she was home, she touched so many people’s lives.

As a result of our own experience, we set up this charity with the support of friends and family, with the aim to help other families from Jersey who need to spend time in the UK whilst their child receives medical treatment in a hospital.

It is worrying enough when your child is sick, without being faced with additional financial worries, and so we would love to help families in some way, by providing them with some financial assistance and emotional support too.

We rely on fund-raising and donations, and any support is greatly appreciated.

If you need any help or support get in touch through the Contact Us page or from the information given below.

COVID !9 NEWS:

The Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation is changing its focus given the impact Covid-19 is having on the world right now.

Instead of focusing our efforts on raising £100k this year we will be dedicating our time and energy into supporting families with sick children here in Jersey. It’s worrying enough to have a sick child that is vulnerable due to this terrible virus and sadly some families will have the added stress of not earning over this period. We believe there will be certain scenarios where sick children can’t travel due to the flight disruptions caused by Covid-19 virus and the charity could potentially help with medical equipment.

We will be working very closely with Family First over this difficult period to ensure that those families who really need our help get it. Please remember you are not alone, we are all in this together. We are here if you need help, support or just some advice during this challenging time.

One of the key priorities of the charity is to provide financial support to families from Jersey who need to spend time in the UK whilst their children receive medical treatment. This year we aim to raise £100k to support families here in a Jersey. So far this year we have helped 14 families, every penny really does make a difference. If you would like to get involved in our fundraising then please get in touch. Ps – Thanks to Joshua Bisson (ACIM) at Jersey Finance for the great fundraising visual!

Our Facebook Feed Is Below

In light of what is happening in the world at the moment, we have all agreed that the focus of the charity at the moment has to shift and change for the time being, therefore the following has been agreed by our directors and governors:

Amazing night at The Grace Crocker Family support foundation Annual Ball.

Not only did we have great fun but we set ourselves two objectives for the next 12 months:

1. To raise £100,000
2. Support 75 local Jersey families with sick children that need treatment in the UK

I’m absolutely delighted to say we raised £12,500 on Saturday so £87,500 to go. We will keep you regularly updated on our progress.

Thank you so much to everyone who came on Saturday it means the world to the charity and the Jersey families you support.

Finally and very importantly we would be extremely grateful if you could spread the word about the wonderful work this charity does via social media and word of mouth. Thank you.

Timeline PhotosDo you know much about the charity behind the amazing round island challenge? 🤔

The Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation was set up in 2011 in memory of Grace Crocker, who grew her angel wings aged 11 weeks. Grace was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. She had open heart surgery when she was just 5 days old. Her family had to move to Southampton whilst grace recovered from surgery. Grace's family set up the foundation from their own experience, with the aim to help other families from Jersey who need to spend time in the UK whilst their child receives medical treatment in a hospital.

The foundation relay on fund-raising donations and thats why your fundraising is so important. If every registered competitor managed to raise a minimum of £50 we would certainly reach our target.

Thanks for the nominations! Keep it going! XWith only two more days to go, we thought we'd do things a little differently today. For Day 23 of the Jemec Jersey Advent Calendar, we would like to give a £250 donation to a local charity of your choice.

This time, instead of us picking the winner at random, we will give the money to the local charity with the most 'votes'. So, all your need to do is like this post and write your chosen charity in the comments. Please remember, it must be a charity - and it must be Jersey based.

If it is a close call - we will look at how many of the voters are following and liking our page - so please do still make sure you have liked and are following our JEMEC Jersey Facebook page.

There are so many fabulous charities on the Island, doing incredible work. Many volunteers give so much time, effort and energy - and this is our way of helping one of these very worthwhile causes this Christmas. :-)

Wow it’s Friday! It’s been a bit stressful over the past few days I will admit.... whilst we totally appreciate that things don’t always go to plan and things change and we are so grateful to people for supporting us, having so many people drop out of coming to the ball at such short notice does have an impact ...to put things into perspective, this has no doubt been our busiest year to date; as of yesterday we have helped 40 families this year alone and have paid out now over £60,000 this year to support these families whilst they are off island. So every penny we can raise really is needed, really is appreciated, and really does help. We are a small charity who have a great team of 10 volunteers on our committee, and thank fully countless lovely peeps who always help and support us. I know it will all work out ok on the night, and whatever we raise will help so much, sometimes though it feels like an uphill struggle, but we know we have you lot pushing our butts up that hill!!
So one final plea......if you know anyone who wants to join us in two weeks time let us know, and if anyone can help with any more raffle prizes, we would most certainly be extremely grateful.
Have a lovely weekend everyone- thank you for all you do xx
